If you can’t make it to New Orleans tonight for our album release party, don’t fret. You can still take part from a distance.

For 24 hours today, Radio Backporch Revolution is streaming the new album. Listen to the stream directly at http://206.225.86.11:8000/listen or via the Radio Backporch Revolution iPhone app.

If you can make it to the show, you can pick up your copy of the album there. But if you can’t, you can now order the album (vinyl or digital mp3) or get your vinyl directly from Backporch Revolution.

On the last day of the month named for the planet Mars, Chef Menteur’s official public release party will be held at Siberia in New Orleans. Full lineup to be announced soon. You can buy the album at the show; any remaining copies (if any) of the album will be available for sale after that, but there are still some available for preorder.

Special album release party for backers: Feb 11th.

The album won’t be available to the public till a month or so later, but we will be handing out albums in person to our Kickstarter backers on Saturday, February 11th.

The party will be hosted by one of our backers at her house in Mid-city, and there will be food and beer. Backers will get the address information via the Kickstarter email.

We’re planning on scheduling a more public release party sometime later in the spring in New Orleans.

As part of our campaign to raise awareness for our Kickstarter project (only 2 weeks left!), we’ll be playing one final gig at another really cool and unique location.

The show is next Friday, July 15th, at the Eiffel Society, the glass and iron building that rises above St. Charles Avenue like a steampunk UFO, and was apparently built from parts of the Eiffel Tower restaurant, relocated from Paris.

We’ll be playing in front of the epic film “Blade Runner,” which is based on the novel “Why Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?” by Philip K. Dick — a futuristic writer that’s been no small influence on our music.

Opening will be our friends in The Beams — a fun and lively power-punk band with echoes of the Pixies, Pavement, and Velvet Underground. We’d like to thank them for setting up this show with us!

This is an early show (8pm)… and it’s free. Thanks to everyone who’s supported our Kickstarter project to release the new album, and in advance to those of you who are about to. We’re getting down to the wire, please share the link with your friends!

Rooftop Party / Kickstarter Update

Big thanks to everyone who came to our rooftop show on Saturday. It was a lot of fun, the weather was beautiful, the food was great, and the beer went down good. We really appreciated the support and hope you had a good time if you were able to make it.

And of course, our extra special thanks to those who made donations to the Kickstarter fund online.

We have still got a LONG way to go in terms of raising funds… but if this project is successful, we promise to put on another rooftop show to celebrate. Maybe it will even double as our album (p)release party….

But don’t forget, we won’t have anything to show for any of this if we don’t meet our goal. Kickstarter is all or nothing. Please help us spread the word, and tell your friends. Hope to see you next time, with vinyl on the way!

Mini psychfest at Siberia, April 28

[Apologies to our faithful readers. This news is at least a month old but somehow wasn't posted here.... until now!]

Chef Menteur will be opening for Cloudland Canyon and White Hills on Thursday, April 28.

Also playing will be Pontiak. All four bands specialize in different flavors of contemporary heavy psychedelic music; although Chef Menteur and Cloudland Canyon come from more electronic beginnings.

Siberia is the venue. If you haven’t been there yet it’s at 2227 St. Claude Ave., near the Hi-Ho.

White Hills and Pontiak are on Thrill Jockey and Cloudland Canyon were formerly on Kranky and are now on Holy Mountain. All three of these bands will be playing the Austin Psych Fest on Saturday April 30.
